Let’s first go for an Ice Cream

I know you want to start learning french as soon as possible, but let’s first pause and go for an ice cream…

This was one of the first things I said to myself back in 2012 when I arrived to Quebec.  The funny thing is that here, if I want that ice cream then I need to learn at least how to say “I WANT”…

So let’s start with that simple phrase: “I want an icecream”.   The first thing you need to learn is that “Je” stands for “I” and “voudrais” stands for “want” and “un” stands for “a”.  So when you put these together you will have the following:

“Je voudrais un…”

This means no more than “I want a” and the funny thing is that here in Quebec you can mix a little bit of french with english, so why not trying “Je voudrais” and “Ice cream” together?    This is what I did, shame me, and it worked!:

“Je voudrais un Ice Cream”

And believe me it worked…  I got myself a sweet chocolate cone covered with chocolate topping.

Go ahead, try it for yourself next time you want to fight the summer days…
