Flash games are going away from Facebook, and with them the iconic FarmVille, once the most popular game in the platform.
FarmVille has shut down inside facebook as the platform will no longer allow flash games starting yesterday, December 31st 2021.
In app purchases were shut down earlier during November, to avoid gamers to continue purchasing into assets that we’re going to disappear later at the end of the 2020.
Zinga has made a formal announcement earlier the past year which can be found here., the game will still be playable in other platforms and on their website.
“We hope that the in-game experiences we’ve developed over the years have provided you with the highest level of entertainment that we strive to fulfill here at Zynga. We look forward to you joining us in Farmville 2: Tropic Escape, Farmville 2: Country Escape and the upcoming worldwide launch of FarmVille 3 on mobile.”
FarmVille is gone now, but their DNA stays in the form of millions of games and apps tapping into the in-app money economy, the invite your friends to earn special items, and all the features that were once unknown to mankind.
It is good to know that the game is not disappearing entirely, as there are places where you can go and play, and we’re sure there’s a lot of people doing it today, as a reminiscence, a trip to the past, after 11 years of not hearing anything about this game anymore. So enjoy the first day of 2021 and we hope you can built a decent farm during today! (try to not waste your money on in-app purchases, as your short lived interest for the game will likely drop like a rock in the next 24 hours)
